María José Chapela Garrido
Anfaco-CecopescaGraduated in Marine Sciences at the University of Vigo and won an Extraordinary PhD Award at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Santiago de Compostela, specialising in the identification of species present in processed foods using PCR-based molecular biology techniques.
Since 2006, he has been part of the staff of ANFACO-CECOPESCA, through a contract with the Isidro Parga Pondal Programme, where he does his research work. Over the years his research has focused on the field of food safety and health.
In the last three years, he has worked in the area of functional nutrition by carrying out in-vitro functionality studies on foods and ingredients directed at sectors of the population with special needs (allergies, metabolic syndrome, elderly population, etc.)
